Apache Arrow Rust Object Store Codebase Intellectual Property (IP) Clearance Status


Arrow Rust Object Store provides a generic way to access local file systems and remote object storage systems such as AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage and Google Cloud storage, facilitating implementations of analytic systems that work with data stored on such systems. It also provides a generic interface to support additional similar systems.

2022-07-18 Object Store is a generic term, commonly used to describe cloud based file storage systems. A United State Trademark search shows: 1. A trademark for "Fungible Object Store" which explicitly includes a disclaimer "NO CLAIM IS MADE TO THE EXCLUSIVE RIGHT TO USE "OBJECT STORE" APART FROM THE MARK AS SHOWN" as well as a mark for "OBJECTSTORE" (no space).

Verify distribution rights

The code in this crate was originally developed by InfluxData as part of the InfluxDB IOx Project. It was subsequently extracted and released in its own object_store_rs repository dual licensed using the APACHE and MIT Open Source Software licenses.

All contributors also agreed to the Individual Contributor License Agreement – 5/2/2018
